"World War II altered the role of American women in the armed forces by allowing women to serve not only on a solely volunteer basis, but in paid jobs that perviously were occupied by men. This step forward provided a platform that allowed the Act of 1943 to provide women with opportunities in full time, paid jobs within the armed forces, progressing equality amount men and women in the 20th century. "

1948- Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, that enabled women to serve as permanent, regular members of not only the army but also the navy, marine corps, and the recently formed air force.
